Our Department

General Information
Our department started education and training in 1993-1994 under the name of Office Management and Secretarial program within Mersin University Tarsus Vocational School.  In 2010; “Office Services and Secretarial Department” was renamed as “Office Management and Executive Assistantship Program”. In the 2018-2019 academic year, our department continues its education within the Vocational School of Tarsus University, since our school was connected to Tarsus University.
The students of the department do an internship for “20” working days in order to get to know the business life closely. Thus, while students get to know the business world on the one hand, on the other hand, they have the opportunity to apply and exhibit their knowledge and skills. In addition, students spend one day a week in the 3rd and 4th semester with the “Sector Practices” course by practicing in the public or private sector.

Program Objective
To educate productive individuals who use their knowledge and experience for the benefit of humanity, who are modern, creative, positive and critical thinkers, who are sensitive to nature, who are aware of cultural values, who are committed to the basic principles of the Republic of Turkey founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, by providing education within universal values with the academic program we have; to contribute to national development and sustainable development.
 
Program Admission Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma and must have enough points from the University Student Selection Examination. In addition, students who provide the right to transfer between universities are also considered to have fulfilled the registration requirement. (80 students are admitted to our program every year.)
 
Graduation Requirements
Students who complete 120 ECTS / ECTS credits, obtain a weighted grade point average of at least “2” out of 4.00, and receive a passing grade from the internship report prepared by the professional internship graduate from the program and receive an associate degree diploma. Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded an associate's degree in office management and administrative assistant.
 
Employment Opportunities
Graduates are employed in public and private organizations with titles such as executive assistant, executive secretary, secretary, typist, file and archive specialist, switchboard operator, document registration personnel.
 
Programs that can be passed with Vertical Transfer Exam
Graduated students can continue their 4-year undergraduate education in Gazi University Faculty of Commerce and Tourism Education Office Management Teaching with the Vertical Transfer Exam or after graduation, they can complete their undergraduate education by continuing their education directly from the 3rd grade of the open education faculties of business administration or economics or public administration department.
